Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We got the answers!

How does the laser work?
Lasers safely remove unwanted facial and body hair by selectively targeting melanin (pigment) inside the hair follicle, generating energy in the form of heat at the root of the hair, and destroying the hair without damaging the skin.

Is Laser Hair Removal Safe?
Laser hair removal treatments are extremely safe and our professionals are certified laser specialists and Michigan state licensed aestheticians.

Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt?
Most individuals experience no more than a slight stinging sensation as the laser pulses are applied. Some parts of the body do tend to be more sensitive than others and a topical numbing cream is available.

How Many Laser Hair Removal Sessions Does It Take?
The number of treatments required for long-term benefits depends on the area being treated, your hair density, and the hair’s growth cycle. There are three phases of hair growth — Anagen (active), Catagen (regression) and Telogen (resting). Laser technology is designed to treat hair in the Anagen phase of growth. Additional factors, including age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, medication and metabolism, influence hair growth and play a role in the location, thickness and resilience of your hair. Although each client is unique, experience tells us that you can expect an average of 4-8 treatments spaced 6 to 12 weeks apart, depending on the body location of the unwanted hair.

How Long is the Laser Hair Removal Treatment Session?
The length of an individual laser hair removal treatment is determined by the density of hair growth and overall size of the area to be treated. Small areas may take as little as 15 minutes, while larger areas, such as the back and leg, may require up to an hour or longer.

How Much Does It Cost?
Compared to a lifetime of waxing, shaving or purchasing depilatory creams, laser hair removal is very affordable. Price is based on the size of the area to be treated.

What Areas Can Be Treated?
All areas can be treated including:

abdomen, back, beard and throat, areola, buttocks, cheeks, chest, chin, ears, eyebrows, feet, forehead, legs, genitals, hairline, arms, hands, head, nostrils, shoulders, underarms

IPL Facial questions

What is IPL Photofacial?

IPL (intense pulsed light) photofacial is an innovative way to quickly, safely and comfortably improve your skin’s texture, tone, and color. Through a non-invasive method of photo-rejuvenation, IPL treats photo-aged skin, removes pigmented lesions, and diminishes redness caused by broken capillaries. IPL helps restore a more youthful appearance, leaving skin clear and healthy looking without any downtime*.

How does IPL photofacial work?

IPL photofacial utilizes a non-laser medical device that delivers a series of gentle pulses of visible light onto the surface of your skin. In a series of treatments, the pulses of light target the skin to effectively eliminate redness, broken capillaries, hyperpigmentation (brown spots), sun damage, large pores, fine lines, and rosacea conditions*. Some clients choose to have chemical peels or microdermabrasion treatments in conjunction with IPL treatments to enhance results.

What areas can be treated?

Any part of your body with uneven skin tone, diffuse redness, or pigmented areas can be safely treated. The face, chest, shoulders and arms are the most common areas for IPL treatment because they typically have had the most sun exposure.

What happens during an IPL treatment?

Just before an IPL treatment, your practitioner will provide you with protective eyewear and apply gel to the areas to be treated. During the treatment, the cool, glass surface of the IPL handpiece is gently applied to the skin. A pulse of light is then delivered to the skin surface. Many clients describe the feeling as a mild, brief pinching sensation.

How many treatments will I need?

On average, 4-6 treatments are recommended, scheduled at 3-4 week intervals. However, results may vary on an individual basis.

What happens after the IPL treatment?

Immediately following an IPL treatment, you may have some slight reddening of the skin which typically subsides within a couple of hours*. Sun damage spots and age spots temporarily darken, and over the course of 1-3 weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade, leaving you with a clear complexion*.

When will I see results?

Many clients see significant improvement within the first few treatments*. IPL photofacial provides gradual, natural improvement with excellent long-term results. You will notice a reduction in redness, flushing and dilated capillaries*. Your skin will look healthier as sun damage, fine lines, pore size, and irregular pigmentation is minimized. Results from an IPL treatment series typically last for a year or longer*.

Will the spots and redness reappear over time?

Over time, new spots may appear if there is sufficient sun exposure. These can also be removed*. It is imperative to apply sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots and excessive redness.
